Research: Studio

Introduction

  • Throughout the world, there are many animation studios dedicated to the production and distribution of animated films.

  • After a bit of research, pick an animation studio of your choice.

  • If you don't know where to start:
    • Try researching some of your favourite animated works and discover which company produces them.
    • People asked in class if they could choose a comic book company. That is fine as long as you focus on the animated versions they produce. You might even want to compare the comic book version to the animated version.

Assignment:

  • Your task is to to create a detailed webnode presentation on the animation studio of your choice. (Ideally, this project should be done as a separate website that you link to from within your portfolio)

  • You should consider including the following:
    • Where the company is located
    • History of when it was founded and how it developed over time
    • Discussion of the key people involved
    • Videography / Timeline of their productions including characters, films, series, and video game involvement. Be sure to include images and video clips. You might want to consider using a site such as "keepvid.com" to download your movie clips just in case they disappear from YouTube or some other site you are using.
    • Discussion of their impact on the field of animation.Specifically, their contributions to the field of animation in terms of software or techniques they developed or styles they introduced.
    • Maybe discuss what makes their animation unique in terms of style or how ideas, thoughts, feelings, or other messages are communicated through their works.

  • As animation relies on visuals, your project should show an effective balance of text, images, and if appropriate, other media files such as video and sound files.

  • In doing your research, be sure to use Google/Bing/Dogpile or some other search engine to find at least 5 sites that provide reliable information about the animator and the animator’s works.

  • Be sure to properly cite all sources, including URLs, of your information.
